LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A man accused of shooting at another man on Grove Street in Lafayette has been arrested in Illinois. 50-year-old Ronald Lampitok was arrested Friday night in Coles County, Illinois, according to Lafayette Police detective BT Brown.
Lampitok is accused of firing two shots at a jogger on September 10. He bonded out of jail the same day, and police were unable to locate him. Lampitok had been paroled from the Indiana State Prison just three weeks before the shooting. He had served time for a 2001 conviction on carjacking and robbery charges.
Detective Brown said he received information Friday that indicated Lampitok might be at a former address in Matoon, Illinois.
"When I called the Coles County Sheriff's Department and Matoon police, they were very familiar with Mr. Lampitok," Brown said.
Brown said Lampitok was arrested on a parole violation warrant issued in Tippecanoe County.
