Heath is a former sheriff and Lafayette mayor

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A former Sheriff and Lafayette Mayor is now officially the Director of the Tippecanoe County Community Corrections Department.

Dave Heath was named interim Director in June when Pat Scowden resigned.

County Commissioner Tom Murtaugh said Heath has been a great addition to the department.

"He's done a phenomenal job out there. He has restructured the department and collection of user fees to increase revenues for the program," Murtaugh said.

Heath will oversee 53 employees.

Heath said there are more than 500 people in community correction programs which include house arrest, work release and road crew.
