LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - After several attempts to contact the owner of a house in Lafayette fail, plans for demolition are finalized.

The house at 1618 North 27th Street in Lafayette needs major repair.

Lafayette City Engineer Jenny Miller said a tree fell on it, and it was left open.

Miller said enough time had gone by, the house is now in a state of disrepair, and since the owner has never contacted the city, it needs to be taken down.

"We went ahead and had the hearing authority confirm the order for demolition and so this is a follow-up to that and actually just receiving bids and giving the controller notic to move ahead with demolition on that house," said Miller.

Miller says Apex Construction won the bid to bring the house down. The cost was $7,100. Miller says the house will be torn down in the next couple of weeks.
