LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The man that may have pulled the trigger on a prank gone bad had his pre-trial hearing this morning.

Cory Lynch didn't say a word as he walked out of the courtroom Friday, September 11th. Behind the closed door of the Magistrate Court, the 22-year-old waived the reading of his charges and the possible penalty if he did indeed pull the trigger on the gun that killed his friend Landon Siela August 22nd.

Magistrate Norris K. Wang handed down some rules to Cory Lynch before he is back in court again. He cannot leave the state. He has to keep in contact with his legal council. Also, he cannot have any firearms in his possession. He cannot consume alcohol and he has to submit to some random alcohol and drug screenings.

On August 26th, Lynch released a statement of sorts on Facebook. In part it said: "He(Landon Siela) was my friend and I will never forget him."

The Lynch family is not talking, but James Bell, Lynch's legal council says it has been tough.

"Absolutely devastating," said Cory Lynch's lawyer James Bell. "This family is devastated. A loss of a friend, certainly."

Bell said he will be learning more about his client's case in the next week, before Cory Lynch is in court again.

Cory Lynch is due in court again on October 23rd. Prosecutors and his attorney will sit down and discuss the possibility of trial, or a plea agreement.
