DAYTON, Ind. (WLFI) - Tippecanoe County police rescued nearly a dozen dogs on Wednesday who had been abandoned at a house in Dayton.

Crystal Creek Kennels owner Bernie Wulle now has the eleven Minature Pinschers.

They were left behind by tenants residing at 7513 State Road 38 East.

Wulle said the dogs were left with some food and are in pretty good shape.

The kennel has seen an influx of animals abandoned in homes over the past year.

Wulle said he feels this increase in abandonment was unnecessary.

"I realize economically people have a hard time, but there's no reason why they can't find other people to take their animals. There are all sorts of ways to get assistance. To me, this is just immature irresponsibility," said Wulle.

A veterinarian will evaluate the eleven dogs and they will be available for adoption at Crystal Creek Kennels in Battle Ground on Thursday.
