CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - The four dogs abandoned at a house in Carroll County for nearly seven months are still looking for their forever home.
Three of the animals had heartworm, but were successfully treated. Bear, Scooter, Gabby and Buddy are all ready for adoption.
Tricia's Dog House in Lafayette took the dogs in after their owner's home went into foreclosure.
When owner left the animals alone in a backyard last September, neighbors took care of the dogs through a fence for over half a year.
The owner of Tricia's Dog House, Tricia Davis, said she is surprised the loveable dogs haven't yet been adopted.
"I really don't know why they haven't been adopted. They are really sweet, great dogs," Davis said.
Davis held one animal as she talked.
"This dog, we've tested him with children. He's been fantastic with kids. We had a little girl about 5 years old who played with him for 2 hours. Put him on a leash, ran him everywhere. He did just great with her," said Davis. "The other dogs? Three of them seem to be real good with kids. The other one is a little bit shy. But they really are great dogs."
Davis stressed that the animals have gone through medical checks and treatment and are completely ready for an owner.
"They've had everything done to them, they've had all their shots, heart worm treated, been treated for worms. So they are ready to go to a new home. They are really really sweet," said Davis.
Tricia's Dog House is open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
