Flu clinic open tomorrow

CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Carroll County received nearly 250 H1N1 flu vaccination doses today.

Emergency Management Director Dave McDowell said the vaccinations are strictly for the age group of six months to 24 years of age due to a limited supply.

The H1N1 shots are available for free on a first come, first serve basis, with no appointment necessary.

The clinic is also offering seasonal flu shots, which are available to anyone. Seasonal flu shots cost $15.

McDowell is urging the public to take advantage of the flu shot clinic.

"If you have small children, I think it's a good idea that they get the H1N1 (vaccination). If you're older, it's not having that much of an effect. None of the nursing homes are reporting problems with it. But, for those people we still reccommend the seasonal flu vaccine."

The flu clinic will also be tomorrow on the first floor of the Carroll County Courthouse from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Over 130 vaccination doses were delivered on Thursday so McDowell has recommended that those considering taking off work to receive a shot call ahead first to check availability.

The county expects to receive more H1N1 vaccinations as more become available.
