WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - West Lafayette will refine the "Pay as you throw" trash plan. The city council will discuss the metered system at a work session on November 4.
The council voted on the first reading of a "Pay as you throw" plan in October. The trash concept, where the amount charged for trash pickup changes based on the amount of garbage discarded, was then tabled until March 2010 so revisions can be made.
West Lafayette Mayor Dennis said the council will look at ideas on how fine tune the system in the upcoming meeting.
"They feel the existing ordinance - or the one they passed recently - is confusing," he explained. "It has issues that need to be more clearly defined."
The meeting is at West Lafayette City Hall at 7:00 p.m. on Nov. 4. The public is invited, but will not be allowed to comment. People with suggestions should contact their council members.
