LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Three of the four dogs rescued from Carroll County have heartworm.
Tricia's Dog House in Lafayette took in Bear, Scooter, Gabby and Buddy after their owner 's home went into foreclosure. The owner left the animals alone in a backyard for nearly 7 months.
Tricia's Dog House owner Tricia Davis said while the dogs are in good spirits, heartworm disease is very serious.
Davis said she is is hopeful they will all make a full recovery.
"We are going to have them treated. We are going to have
them treated next week, and we are getting them spayed and
neutered next week. Then they'll be up for adoption.
And, luckily we've already had quite a few inquiries so we are real
excited about that. I think they are going to make really
good pets. They seem very friendly to everyone which is good," said
Davis.
Davis said the cost of heartworm treatment is expensive.
Donations can be made to the Wildcat Valley Animal Hospital. The number is 589-PAWS. Or to Tricia's Dog House. That number is 742-6605.
Davis said the dogs will be ready for adoption in the next
couple of weeks.
