Body found in Tippecanoe River search

The search is over for a man last seen near the Tippecanoe River in Battle Ground.

The search for 50-year-old Jim Sanders began at about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday after he disappeared near Battle Ground.

Sanders had been out fishing with his 19-year-old son near the Hog Point Bridge when Sanders waded into the water and did not reappear.

After about 30 minutes, Sanders' son called 911.

Tippecanoe County Sheriff Tracy Brown said a search and rescue team could not find the man Wednesday night. Sanders' body was found near Goldsberry Road Thursday morning.

The sheriff said alcohol appears to have been a factor in the drowning.
