WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - West Lafayette Police arrested a bank robber who tried escape in a taxi cab.
Lieutenant Bill Gallagher says police were called at 5:40 p.m. Friday evening to the Lafayette Bank and Trust at the corner of Salisbury and Navajo Streets just 400 feet from the police station.
Police said a woman gave a teller a note demanding money. She was given around $1,000 dollars in cash. Police said tellers saw her leave in a Four Star taxi.
The cab only made it a little over a half a block from the bank before several police cars pulled over the taxi. Officers took two women passengers into custody. One was let go and the other, 56-year-old Sherryle Adams, was arrested for felony charges of robbery and theft.
