LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A group of twelve-year-old baseball players is celebrating a big accomplishment.
The Harrison 12-U team took second place at the UUUSA World Series last weekend. The tournament featured teams from all over the country. The team had to win qualifying games in the state to be able to go.
Coach Ed Pearson said the boys have good spirits and love the game, and said the win was just an added bonus.
"Any time you can end on a good note," said Pearson. "The kids are coming back next year. They're having fun. You can tell behind me, we're technically done, but they're still ready to play baseball. So I think we've done our job as coaches and as a team."
"We tried our hardest and we practiced very hard," said teammate John Roop. "It paid off."
The team will continue to play together through middle school and high school.
