LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The Super Bowl may have been 1,200 miles away, but that didn't stop local retailers from benefitting from the game.
Lafayette H.H. Gregg sales manager Chris Clark said people definitely bought big screens for the big game.
"A lot of people are, at this time, really like to come in and maybe get a bigger TV for the Super Bowl. The Colts winning would be a great thing for us, so we're all of course Colts' fans here so we enjoy that as well. We're just really having a good sale right now," said Clark.
Lafayette resident Keith Williams was rooting for the Saints.
"We went and bought a TV to upgrade the bedroom TV, you know, Super Bowl. The wife wanted to be able to watch the Super Bowl in the room. We won't be so rowdy downstairs in the front room. She doesn't want to hang with the fellas, so it's fine," said Williams.
Sales Associate Garret Granson said the weekend of the Super Bowl was extremely busy for TV sales.
"Most of them commented saying something, I would ask them if they were getting one for the game, something like that and most of the time they would say 'Yeah'," said Granson.
Clark couldn't give specifics on the number of TV's sold, but he said they were definitely up.
Some watched the Super Bowl for the big game, but some watched for different reasons.
"She wants to see Reggie Bush by herself. I ain't mad at her," said Williams.
