Local housing market on the rise

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - As the national housing market continues to rebound so does the local market.

Nationally, building permits in February were up more than 4.5 percent. That's the highest level in more than five years.

Closer to home local realtors believe if you're looking to put your home on the market now is the time, and low lending rates make it a great market for buyers.

"I know FHA has got some big changes coming up here and those are going to affect what kind of loan you go with so get with a lender on that. We've seen an upswing for sure. We've seen a lot of changes happen over time since 2007 in our local economy as well as market." commented Aimee Ness of Keller Williams Realty.

The National Association of Realtors says February sales of previously occupied homes, rose to the highest level in more than three years.
