LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Christians across the world and here in Greater Lafayette are celebrating Ash Wednesday.

You're taking a look at this morning's Mass at "St. Mary Cathedral" in Downtown Lafayette.

There were hundreds who attended the service.

The holiday marks the beginning of the Christian season of Lent, which concludes 40 days from now with the celebration of Easter.

The time is filled with praying and fasting in preparation for the Easter Holiday.
