Linden Train Depot holds annual open house

LINDEN, Ind. (WLFI) - A holiday tradition continues in Montgomery County at the Linden Train Depot.

The depot is holding its annual Open House this weekend, where people are invited to go back in time and experience what railroading was like in the early 1900's.

Guides gave tours of the depot, where model trains were on display.

President of the Linden Train Depot Gary Vierk said Christmas and trains go hand in hand.

"It's just the thing to do," Vierk said. "Railroads and Christmas just seem to go together. People would have railroad lay-outs around their Christmas trees. Then they would go further and put it on a 4x8 display.  Then they would go even further and put a lay-out in an entire room."

"I've just always been fascinated with trains since I was a little kid," said Christopher Smith, from Crawfordsville. "There just something about it that has a magnetic draw to it."

The Linden Train Depot is open every day through December 21. It's open from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and is free for everyone to attend.
