TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Dry conditions helped fuel a grass fire along Interstate 65 Tuesday evening.
Multiple fire crews were called at out just after 9:00 p.m. as several fires burned along the southbound lanes inside both Tippecanoe and White Counties from about mile marker 184 to 186. As the sun set, the flames and smoke were visible for a few miles.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Traffic slowed and went down to one lane for traffic heading south while fire trucks lined the side of the interstate. Traffic on the northbound lanes was unaffected.
After an hour and fifteen minutes, firefighters had the fire under control and gave cleared the area shortly before 10:30 p.m.
