A local union celebrates 100 years. Members of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 668 gathered together at the Purdue Memorial ball room to commemorate a century of brotherhood Saturday night.
About 400 people attended the celebration which included dinner and entertainment. Union member Jim Ogden said Local 668 has a rich tradition and wants to keep area electricians working.
"They've raised the standard of living for the electrician. It gives them a dignified retirement, health care, pensions. It's nice when our guys retire and they don't have to worry about getting another job. They're taken care of, not only when they're working, but when they retire," Ogden said.
"There's so many people that don't have a chance to have a good living," member Dan Rayman said. "So, I really appreciate what I've got because they've done a great deal for us."
"I've learned a lot. A lot of the older guys are good and learn a lot from them," explained four year member Blake Clinton.
