LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Greater Lafayette Commerce has computed the votes and chosen its 2012 Small Business of the Year.

During a ceremony Wednesday at the Holiday Inn in Downtown Lafayette, Lafayette PC was announced as the winner.

Lafayette PC is located on Main Street and owned by Jason and Julie Rusbam. It opened in 2008 and specializes in home computer support, repair and data networking.

The Rusbams said they were certainly weren't expecting the recognition, but they were thrilled when their name was called.

"You know, it just helps to reaffirm that we're doing the right thing, hopefully," said Jason Rusbam. "That we're heading in the right direction, that we're growing our business, we're doing the right things, so it's very reassuring to know people can se that we're making a good effort."

Lafayette PC was chosen from a group of 11 previous Small Business of the Month winners named from September 2011 through August 2012.

Businesses nominated for the monthly award must be a member of Greater Lafayette Commerce, privately owned, in business under current ownership for at least three years, have 50 or fewer employees and be involved in the community.
