Lafayette Parks Board approves 'greens' donation

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A greens donation will help save a lot of green for the area's newest public golf course.

The Lafayette Parks Board voted Monday to declare 50 golf carts, 10 lawn mowers and about a dozen other pieces of equipment as surplus. The machines had been used by the Lafayette Golf Course until the board closed the course last month.

The parks department is keeping all equipment that they can use for other purposes, like a tractor and utility cart.

Lafayette Parks Superintendent Ted Bumbleburg said Greater Lafayette Commerce is getting two golf carts to use for downtown events. Everything else is being donated to the Battle Ground Golf Club, which as News 18 has reported, is now a public course.

"We wanted to give them an opportunity to help them out, to give them a jump start with some of the equipment in the future for this spring," said Bumbleburg.

Bumbleburg said the Battle Ground course used to share equipment with Coyote Crossing because they shared ownership. But with the transfer, almost all equipment was sent to Coyote Crossing permanently.
