A Lafayette man is sentenced to nearly two decades in prison …

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The city of Lafayette is now accepting applications for the 2012-2013 Mayor’s Youth Council.
The youth council is a panel of young adults appointed by the mayor and city clerk. The Mayor’s Youth Council will represent the city and will bring forward various issues and projects.
They will also learn how local government operates on a day-to-day basis, attend City Council and board meetings.
Among their duties, they will be participating and volunteering in many community activities that impact the community.
Applicants must be in high school and be residents of the city of Lafayette.
Completed applications are due August 17, 2012 and are available on the city website.
