Lafayette driver injured in moped crash

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A Lafayette man was airlifted to Indianapolis after a crash on the city's south side Saturday.

Police said a moped, driven by Bernard Wilson, and a car, driven by Matthew Watkins, crashed near the intersection Concord Road and Rascal Drive.

Officers told NewsChannel 18 Wilson was taken to Franciscan Saint Elizabeth East Hospital for severe injuries and then transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Toxicology results are pending.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Lafayette police at (765)807-1200 or the WE-TIP Hotline at 1(800)78-CRIME.
