LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette city council approves the annexation of property on the city's south side. This includes Walmart on 350 South and Torchwood Condominiums. This is the third phase of the annexation.

During the proposal this summer, Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski said the annexation area is already getting the benefit of city services. They are provided with city water, city sewer and the city plows the roads. Roswarski said the annexation will become part of Lafayette formally in 2010.

"We look at potential growth areas.," Roswarski said. "We look at area that have contiguous to city limits already. That will have a profound affect on the city depending on how they develop. So we have systematically, in a slow, methodical way started taking in those pieces of ground."

The fourth phase will take a look at land toward Clarian Arnett.
