LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) - The Logansport Juvenile Correctional Facility received a nearly perfect score in a recent audit for re-accreditation.
The American Corrections Association checked nearly everything within the facility over the course of two and a half days, from quality of life and health to records and upkeep of the building.
They missed a 100 percent score only for failing minor issues such as a first-aid kit that had not been recently assessed not being able to prove the credentials of the employee who does the lighting for the facility.
Lori Harshbarger, superintendent of the Logansport Juvenile Facility, says only about 10 percent of facilities even open their doors to auditors.
"I think it lends you credibility to the public but then also to our field. We do see ourselves as professionals," said Harshbarger.
"We do try to do the best job we can for the students and for the staff and for the state."
The facility is audited every three years.
