Judge makes decision on controversial Clinton County road paving

CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A Clinton County Road could soon be a smoother ride but one commissioner calls the decision "ridiculous."

A judge in Hamilton County ruled Monday that commissioners could move forward on a controversial road paving project. That road is County Road 450 West.
    
The judge found that commissioner Mike Beard would not benefit financially if the county road in front of his house were paved. Those against the project, including Commissioner Skip Evans, argued Beard wanted the road paved for his own benefit.

Beard said the road should be paved because the only Department of Natural Resources (DNR) nature preserve in Clinton County sits off that road.

"It's the only DNR property located in Clinton County and it deserves more attention than we've been able to give it in the past," Beard said.

"I just think it's ridiculous. Actually, I'm sickened by the judge's decision. I just don't think that he heard the voice of the people," Evans said.

Skip Evans said he and his lawyers plan to appeal the judge's decision.
    
There's no word on when the project will begin.
