WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Indiana unemployment benefits will be lower beginning September 2.
Right now residents collect unemployment for up to 73 weeks, plus another 37 weeks in federal benefits.
The federal cut-off varies by each state's unemployment rate.
Indiana's rate fell below 8.5 percent in February, triggering a reduction in benefits from 73 to 63 weeks.
As a result, the first people affected will see benefits run out in November, instead of December.
The Department of Workforce Development has a calculator on its website to add up how much eligibility recipients have left.
