WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - White County deputies believe ignoring a stop sign had deadly consequences Monday evening for a teenaged driver.

It all happened at the intersection of County Road 300 West and 1150 South, about four miles southwest of Brookston about 6:00 p.m.

Investigators said a white car driving south on 300 appeared to disregard a stop sign and was t-boned by a red car driving west on 1150.

Deputies said the teenage male driver of the white car was killed and a female in the front seat, also in her late teens, was flown by helicopter to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis with critical injuries.

Detectives said a third passenger in the white car, along with the teenage driver of the red car, were rushed by ambulance to IU Health Arnett in Lafayette.

Sheriff Pat Shafer said the crash remains under investigation and no names are being released at this time pending notification of family.

The three people in the white car are all believed to be from a different county.
