LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - This week is National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week and Lafayette celebrated with a chili lunch.

Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski, West Lafayette Mayor John Dennis and President of the County Commissioners Tom Murtaugh served up chili and punch to citizens Thursday to help raise awareness in our community.

"We are really focused on trying to find some permanent housing solutions for folks that are struggling with mental health barriers or some substance abuse challenges," Director of Lafayette Transitional Housing Center Jennifer Layton said. "And we as a community realize that homelessness isn't right."
