Hero of Hudson to be honored at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The pilot known as the Hero of the Hudson will be honored at Purdue on November 12.

Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger is the guest of honor at the annual President's Council Weekend, according to a press release from University News Service.

Sullenberger gained national attention after safely making an emergency landing on the Hudson River after a flock of birds fouled the engines shortly after takeoff. All 155 passengers and crew made it safely off the plan.

Sullenberger will receive a Distinguished Alumnus Award from the College of Liberal Arts and will be recognized at the President's Council annual dinner.
