LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Firefighters said a mulch pile caught itself on fire just north of Lafayette Wednesday.
According to Tippecanoe Township Volunteer Firefighters responded to reports of a brush fire around 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at 7416 State Road 43 North.
Officials said the property owner had thrown grass cuttings into a pile and the heat made the grass combust, sparking the blaze.
A neighbor of the property called in the fire.
It took just 10 to 15 minutes for firefighters to extinguish the flames.
