Get soccer questions answered at local clinic

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - The Tippecanoe Soccer Association, which has been serving area youth since 1978, will hold its first soccer clinic this week in conjunction with the association’s 35th anniversary.

The event will be held over the course of two days (Feb. 8 and 9) at Evangelical Covenant Church (3600 S. Ninth St. in Lafayette).

Is your child interested in going to college and playing soccer? Would you like to complete Indiana’s Youth Module I & II? How does fitness training improve your soccer play? What should you eat before, during and after a game? This is your chance to discuss these and other topics with our group of healthcare and soccer professionals.

The clinic’s schedule is below.

Friday

5-5:30 p.m.: Registration
5:30-6 p.m.: John James, DDS / Klondike Dental Care – Mouth Injuries
6-7 p.m.: Brian Morris, MD / Sports Medicine – Concussions & Muscle Injuries
7-8 p.m.: Robert Hagen, MD / Lafayette Orthopaedic Clinic – Injury Prevention
8-8:30 p.m.: Amy Fisher, MS RD / Nutritionist – Youth soccer nutrition

Saturday

8:30-9 a.m.: Registration
9-10 a.m.: Tere Limon / Soccer Tots
10 a.m.-noon: Carlos Florido / Indiana Soccer – Youth Module I & II (Lecture)
Noon-1 p.m.: Lunch Break (Brown Bag)
1-3 p.m.: Carlos Florido / Indiana Soccer – Youth Module I & II (Field Session)
3-4 p.m.: Steve Reust / Referee – Soccer rules & commonly misunderstood calls.
4-5 p.m.: Will Mieding, CSCS, USAW / Sports Performance Dir Miracles Rehabilitation– Fitness
5-6 p.m.: Rob Klatte / Purdue University Women’s Head Coach – College Night (Girls)
5-6 p.m.: Mike Harper / IPFW Men’s Head Coach – College Night (Boys)
6-7 p.m.: Gala Night Awards and Indy Pro team presentation by Peter Wilt
