Gala helps Heartford House of Lafayette

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Tuxedos and gowns filled the Purdue Ballroom Saturday night, as hundreds came together for the Third Annual Heartford House Fundraising Gala.

Saturday's event included live music, local art, a high-end fashion show, and dinner.

Local artists were on hand to sketch models and paint portraits, which were all auctioned off during the dinner.

All proceeds will go toward the Heartford House in Lafayette.

Heartford House provides a child friendly, home-like environment, where victims of child abuse can go to be interviewed by police.

The center aims to reduce the trauma to the child, while improving the quality of evidence gathered.

Cindy and Todd Leuck are co-chairs of the gala. Both Cindy and Todd have been involved with the Heartford House for 15 years, and said it's great to support a local charity.

"Hopefully tonight, the harvest will come and will help the kids that truly need community support," said Cindy. "It's home, it's not out there, this is a local charity and we've had great support."

Cindy and Todd said each gala takes about a year and a half to plan. They said the event Saturday night was sold out.
