LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette Urban Ministry (LUM) and the Salvation Army are both looking for donations during these cold winter days.
LUM offers an overnight shelter for homeless people in the Lafayette area. LUM Director Joe Micon says while they are always looking for volunteers and money donations, at this time of year they are really in need of cereal bars and other nutritious snacks and foods.
You can take donations to LUM, located at 420 N. Fourth St. in Lafayette. If you have any questions about what donations are needed, call them at 765-423-2691.
Meanwhile, the Salvation Army is looking for winter coat donations.
With the cold weather, Major Jim Irvine says there has been at least one person a day asking for a winter coat. However, with the low amount of coats the Salvation Army has, they have had to turn people away.
To donate new or gently used winter coats for those who need them, bring them to the Salvation Army’s location in Lafayette at 1110 Union St., or call at 765-742-0006.
