FRANKFORT, Ind. (WLFI) - Frankfort is helping residents more easily afford prescription drugs.
The city now offers the Indiana Drug Card.
The card is free, requires no sign-up, and is ready to be used immediately.
Frankfort City Councilor Josh Uitts said the card is aimed to help those with little to no insurance coverage, but all Indiana residents are eligible.
The card is accepted at more than 56,000 pharmacies across the country.
Uitts said Frankfort is excited to help its citizens afford their necessary medication and some medical supplies.
"A lot of folks are fortunate to have good insurance, but not everyone does," Uitts said. "This is just a way to hopefully help somebody out. They help with prescription drugs. I believe they actually help with, some discounts on hearing aids and some diabetic supplies."
The card saves the average user 30 percent on medication costs; up to 75% savings is possible.
The Indiana Drug Card can be picked up from at the Frankfort mayor's office, Clerk-Treasurer Judy Suter's office, or visit the city of Frankfort's website where the card can be obtained.
