LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - The future of the Moses Fowler House in Tippecanoe County is in limbo. The Tippecanoe County Historical Association (TCHA) announced Friday evening it is looking to divest itself of the property after more than seven decades of ownership.
The TCHA has owned the Fowler House since 1940, but except for occasional events like weddings, a spokesperson said the home is empty and unused.
The Historical Association said significant changes would have to be made for the Fowler House to properly display documents and artifacts from the area's history and even if those changes could be made, they would cost more than the TCHA could afford. And those functions are currently being done at other locations.
However, the organization is committed to finding new managers for the property and to continue preserving the home and its history.
The home is not currently listed for sale.
