Food pantry goes on wheels to give food

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A local food pantry’s about to go on the road to serve up food to those in need.

Food Finder’s mobile food pantry will serve low-income Tippecanoe County residents with the help of Congress Street United Methodist Church.

It’s starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the church, but a free hot breakfast will be served at 9.

Food will be given out until there is none left, which usually happens within two or three hours.

Distribution is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and recipients should bring something to carry the food home, such as a laundry basket or box.

To be eligible to get food, your income must not exceed 185 percent of poverty guidelines. That means, for example, a family of four can earn no more than $42,643 to be eligible to receive food.

Head to the church at 2012 Congress St. just north of Columbian Park to get your food.

The pantry is co-sponsored by First United Methodist Church in West Lafayette and Congress Street church.

For more information you can contact Kristine Jansen via email or call her at 765-471-0062.
