Food Finders Food Bank needs non-perishable items

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Food Finders Food Bank has set a goal of collecting 150,000 meals by Nov. 30.

The agency kicked off its annual "Drive Away Hunger" fall food drive Thursday.

More than 40 local schools, businesses and churches have agreed to hold food drives for this push.

Food Finders Food Bank Executive Director Katy Bunder says produce and perishable item donations have been solid, but that non-perishable items are very much needed.

“The canned and boxed food is really important to pantries that are only open a few times a month, or a few times a week, and need to be able to give people food that they can then use until the pantry is open again,” Bunder said.

Food Finders serves almost 170 agencies in Tippecanoe and 15 other surrounding counties.

To find out how to get involved, head to the Food Finders website.
