FLORA, Ind. (WLFI) - The northwest side of Flora will have its sewer lines replaced for the first time since the 1970s.

The town of Flora received a $500,000 grant to replace the sanitary sewer lines in the northwestern portion of the town.

The grant, while helping fund the project, will keep the town from doing something it doesn't want to do.

"It will keep us from raising our residential rates," Foreman for the Flora Wastewater Treatment Facility Bill McCarty said.

"It will keep our costs down as low as we possibly can, and keep the treatment costs themselves down," said McCarty.

McCarty hopes the project will be underway by May of 2013.
