CASS COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A Cass County family's home is destroyed in a fire that burned for hours Tuesday morning.
Homeowner Yvonne Thompson said she was woken up around 4:00 a.m. Tuesday by the fire in her home at 1270 North County Road 1050 West in Cass County.
She said she and her son were the only ones living there, and they both got out safely. However, the family did lose two parrots they kept as pets.
Thompson said the Idaville, Georgetown and Burnettsville fire departments all responded. Firefighters were on the scene until around 8:30 a.m. No word yet on the cause of the fire.
Thompson said she has lived in the home since 2000, and she does have homeowner's insurance on the property.
