Family loses special tree in the storm

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - According to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Department, there were no reports of any major damage from Sunday morning's storm. However, one family did see a special tree get destroyed.

Kristy Blair said she's lived in her home on Amherst Drive in Lafayette most of her life. She said she can always remember the big tree out in the front yard.

Part of the tree was knocked down due to the storm. It's unclear if the tree fell due to wind or a lightening strike.
Blair said she is happy the rain came, but was sad to see the tree go.

"It was always my tree because I could always get into what I call the bench [of the tree]," Blair said. " My older sister could always climb all the way to the top of that tree in the backyard. So I feel like [the storm] kind of took out my tree."

Blair hopes to save the part of the tree that was not knocked down.
