Families travel far to honor soldiers

CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Boots lined the entrance to the Clinton County Courthouse Friday in honor of the military.

The Jamie Jarboe Foundation, created in honor of Frankfort native Staff Sgt. Jamie Jarboe, organized the event.

Families of active duty soldiers submitted photos of their loved ones, and boots were placed at the courthouse for each soldier.

Melissa Jarboe, the wife of the late Jamie Jarboe, says she was surprised when military families came from as far as Kentucky and Illinois to participate in the memorial.

“We've had families from Fort Campbell, Kentucky and the Kentucky area, coming down from Illinois as well,” Jarboe said. “They submitted a picture and wanted to see their military member being honored. So, they drove today to Frankfort and took a picture and felt really overwhelmed.”

Jarboe says they plan on having another living memorial in the summer.
