WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - WLFI-TV is partnering with the Purdue Exponent in a relationship to share weather and training opportunities.

The Exponent will carry WLFI’s short-range forecasts on its front page and a more in-depth 7-day forecast inside the paper. In exchange, WLFI will have access to stories generated by Exponent staff members.

The project began when WLFI General Manager Marc Elliott approached Exponent publisher Pat Kuhnle about creating a relationship to take advantage of the TV station’s dominance in weather coverage. The Exponent began carrying forecasts provided by WLFI Chief Meteorologist Chad Evans on May 16.

The relationship also has educational benefits for Exponent staff members, who will have opportunities to pursue summer internships with WLFI.

WLFI videographers will also train Exponent staff in shooting and editing video three times per year.
