LINDEN, Ind. (WLFI) - An ethanol plant in Linden is close to reopening after being shut down all summer.
Valero Renewables shut down at the end of June because it wasn't making a profit.
None of the 60 employees at the Linden plant lost their jobs because of the shutdown.
Valero spokesperson Bill Day said they have been working every day to maintain the plant.
They've also done some safety training over the past couple of months.
Day said the plant shut down because corn prices were too expensive.
"This is a modern, well-run, very efficient plant," Day said. "It runs at a low cost. That's going to be an advantage when we start up. In an environment when corn prices are high, if you can keep your operating costs low, you're going to be in good shape."
Day said the plant will be opening up within the next couple of weeks, but an exact date is unknown at this time.
