LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - According to Dr. Ed Eiler, Friday was a combination of excitement and satisfaction.

Friday was Dr. Eiler's last day as the Superintendent of the Lafayette School Corporation. Dr. Eiler told NewsChannel 18 that his last day on the job was more meaningful than his final day.

He said on his final day, he was able to reflect on the good times he had and the people he met. Dr. Eiler has served as superintendent of the LSC for the past 16 years.

He said he believes he accomplished what he set out to when he started, which was to create a positive learning environment for children. Dr. Eiler said he also accomplished one of his very own dreams.

"So many people have a dream, 'Oh, I'd really like to do X', and the reality is I got to live my dream," said Dr. Eiler. "This is what I've always wanted to do and so many people don't get a chance to do that."

Dr. Eiler said what he will miss most about his job are the children and the people he works with. He said his plans for the future consist of some very tough decisions, such as whether to play tennis two or three times a week, and what time of the day he should get his golf game in.

NewsChannel 18 wishes Dr. Eiler the best in his future.
