WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - About 50 people traded in "bundling up" for "stripping down" Friday night at Riverside Skating Center in West Lafayette.
Hats, scarves and mittens were still the norm, but there was little else on dozens of participants for the 9th annual Dare to Bare event.
Employees said in years where the weather is a little bit warmer, there are often more than 80 people out. So while this crowd may have been a little smaller than usual, it was definitely a hardy bunch.
It's believed to be the second coldest edition of the Dare to Bare event.
West Lafayette Senior Austin Bates said he was having fun despite the frigid temperatures.
"It's like negative ten with (the) wind chill," said Bates. "It's pretty cold."
As for how cold it felt, dressed only in shorts, a knit hat and red cape, "Worse than that! I've got some hand warmers in my pants right now!"
Dare to Bare lasted from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
