LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Local downtown Lafayette businesses will be open late Friday, Nov. 16 for "Third Friday."
"Third Friday" began in January 2009 by Angela Vinson, owner of LaLa Gallery & Studio. She said with the success of the Gallery Walks put on by the Tippecanoe Arts Federation, she wanted to add local businesses into the mix. So far, it's been successful and new businesses continue to want to be a part of the monthly event.
Joanna Rutherford owns Red Poppy Studios & Gallery. Red Poppy is one of many businesses that will be open late for "Third Friday." Most businesses are typically open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. but on "Third Friday," many will stay open until 8 p.m., some even until 10 p.m.
During these extended hours, customers can expect specials, deals and events at participating downtown stores. At LaLa Gallery for example, the shop will host an opening reception for its "Trunk Show" and "Up-cycled Boxes and Bowls." The Red Poppy will have live music, live art, tea and pastries.
Participating businesses include: Bee's Art Shop, Grateful Heart, J.E. Field Company, Kathy's Kandies, Lala Gallery & Studio, Main Street Artisans, Natural Parenting Education Network, Operation Ink, Pride Lafayette, Robots & Rogues, Something Special , The Red Poppy, Uncorked and more.
Vinson said she recently started a newsletter with more information on "Third Friday." You can also find more information on the "Third Friday" website and Facebook page.
