LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - With just six days to go until Christmas, businesses in Downtown Lafayette are doing what they can to help those last-minute shoppers.
Some stores are staying open later and offering specials this Friday night. It's all part of Third Friday.
Third Friday events started in 2009 in hopes of bringing people out for a night on the town. Owner of Lala Gallery and Studio, Angela Vinson, started the tradition after hearing about Third Friday events in Indianapolis and Goshen, Ind. She said it's all about keeping business local.
"Instead of spending your money on your gasoline and driving elsewhere, we have a lot of great local potters, painters, crafters and several of the retail shops downtown so you can save and shop local," Vinson said.
Businesses including Kathie's Kandies, Bee's Art Shop, and Something Special of Lafayette will be participating. Vinson said businesses will stay open until 8, 9 and 10 p.m., respectively.
