Dogs forced to fight are doing better

ATTICA, Ind. (WLFI) - After Paw 'n' Claws animal shelter was broken into Thursday, dogs were forced to fight, two kittens were killed, and another dog injured.

Veterinarian Dr. Tracy Sudlow said the community has showed an outpour of support and the dogs aren't showing any signs of stress since the incident.

"They have not interacted with any other dog in a negative way," said Dr. Sudlow. "They haven't shown aggression toward any other dogs that they've interacted with here in the hospital, no people, anything. They've been completely their normal selves since they've been here."

Dr. Sudlow said Chopper's and Flynn's wounds are healing quickly and the third dog injured, Winnie, seems to be feeling better too. She said people have been calling to check on the dogs and some even want to take them home.

"We have had people interested in adopting the dogs," said Dr. Sudlow. "We've had a couple people come down and look at Flynn. Some people call about Chopper. So that's been great."

Dr. Sudlow said the community has shown so much support. She said people have donated dog food, money to help pay for medical expenses, and one person even donated a much needed security system to Paws 'n' Claws.

"He is going to be donating a security system to us," said Dr. Sudlow. "He is going to install it and donate all the equipment and we are going to get that in place, probably by next week."

Attica Police said they are still investigating the case, but do have a few leads.

"All I can say at this point is we have a couple people of interest that we are investigating," said Attica Police Officer Thomas Galloway.

Galloway said they will continue to search for the persons responsible until they are caught.

 "We are taking this very seriously," said Galloway. "There is a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest."
