LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - There are certain things that happen that are a sure sign the seasons are about to change, in Lafayette and West Lafayette that sign is the one for Dog 'n Suds. Both locations will reopen their drive up windows on February 28th at 11 am after a three month-long hibernation.

Owner and operator Dan Washington said a lot has to be done before the first hot dog or mug of root beer is sold to the customer.

"We have got to open it back up again, go around to all the menus and make sure they are all working,” said Washington. “We also have to replace any parts that need to be replaced and bring all the equipment back in from the warehouse and clean it one more time. We also have to make sure that equipment works, if it does not we have to repair it. It is part of what we do the three weeks before we get open."

Washington said he bought 34,000 hot dogs for the Lafayette location alone in preparation for the store's reopening and the coney dog sale. He said it is tough to tell who looks forward to the reopen more customers, or workers.

“We have been unemployed for three months so it is time to go back to work,” said Washington. “We get excited as much as our customers do because of what is coming. We know that we have got to make a lot of hot dogs in a short period of time."

Dog ‘n Suds coney dogs will be on sale for 79 cents Monday through Wednesday.
