WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - It’s not going to be a cool summer by any means, and with a steamy season comes the need to keep yourself cool.
Seniors in particular are urged to stay inside during the hot summer months.
The Area Four Agency is pushing its "Summer Cool Program" to help seniors stay cool for free.
For those eligible, the program provides free air conditioners and fans.
Energy Assistance Program Coordinator Kim Widner said the program runs mainly off donations and that organizers are always looking for more support.
“This year, we did not receive the bulk amount of fans that we have in the past, so right now I have a small church here in Lafayette that has donated a few -- so we have a few available starting this afternoon -- but if anyone would be willing to donate any we'll accept those at any time,” said Widner.
If you think you qualify for a free AC unit or you're wondering if you are eligible, head to their website .
